THE IMPORTANCE OF ALBUM COVERS

How many albums have you downloaded in the streaming platforms or bought due to their alluring cover art?

That was my case with Frank Ocean’s album “BLOND”, I’ve found myself downloading the album just because of its cover, but after listening to it with a clear mind I do felt in love.

The first Album Cover was created by the artistic director and graphic designer at Columbia Records, ALEX STEINWEISS in 1939.

  1. I’ve really only started to appreciate the album art recently since I started collecting vinyl’s. It’s a work of art when done right and most people do judge a book by its cover.

  2. You want to see really imaginative LP cover art, you need to check out the albums of the late 60s and early 70s. No internet in those days. For obscure bands, it was the cover in the record shop which convinced you to buy. 🙂
