It’s been kind of a year that I stopped reading self-help books due to many reasons.
I started reading self-help books 3 years ago when I got into the world of self-growth/ self development and actually to keep it honest it helped me a lot I read kind of all the classics of self-help books, I watched a bunch of videos related to the topic……
But now it’s been a year that I stopped reading self-help because I realized that self-help books are waste of time especially when you’re in the hub of your self-growth journey, at first are helpful, but after they become useless because typically all the self-help books say the same thing, same moral, same advice…… Nothing new which is a typical scam they also give false hope which means there is lack of realistic expections comparing to the real world that we live in.
I switched from self-help to fiction, romance and literature, which honestly is helping me more than self-help books, it takes me away from the ordinary world which is needed sometimes also I feel that my imagination is progressing, and the most important thing is that I’m learning new stuff.
I hope y’all enjoyed it. Don’t forget to share with us your thoughts down below//TAKE CARE//
I agree that delving into self-help books is good for a while but getting deep into a good fiction might do more good than listening to how someone else fixed themselves.

I am about halfway through a fiction book and hope to finish and start on another one that is due by Christmas. The one for Christmas delivery probably will be late, but I am trying!!!!

What a mood, love it ๐ค
There is nothing more peaceful than reading a good fiction book.

๐ What I Find interesting about Attitudes to “Self-Help Books” from Ex-Readers is that it’s a Similar Attitude to that Ex-Smokers have toward Smokers EveryOne; it’s an Attitude that is Almost Aloof, Arrogant and Smug…it is like The Reasons for Reading “Self-Help Books” NEVER!!! existed in The First Place; perhaps a form of Denial maybe…there is a Reason why there ARE Mental Health Professionals to Turn To, Free or Paid For, EveryBody; only, The Trouble with Seeking Third Party Therapy is THE STIGMA!!! that is Associated with Mental Health

Actually most of ex self-help readers at first they don’t realize the repetition and the waste of time in the majority of that kind of books which was my case…but untile they got in a deep level of self growth then ,they got the point. So at the first place these books are so helpful but, then you realize that are so repetitive…So why wasting time?!!

I have to check some of these out. I am not sure if you ever read Mike Bayerโs self help books. He has 3 out I highly recommend!. I found them at a very transitioning time and found myself really taking from that book and applying to my everyday. I never really was into these books up until that point. I never took to that genre of books usually im a mystery and crime. However the first one I read was Better Self fell in love instantly and got the other 2. Incredible layout he even has these little assessments you can take and write in the book or scratch paper. They are little activities he himself as a life coach does with his clients. Iโm telling ya a seriously amazing read.

Yeah one of his books that it’s called “Best Self”( I think ๐ค) it was recommended to me but I’ve never read it… Maybe in the future if I’ll change my mind over self-help books I’ll read it but now I’m not into the mood of that kind of books at all . Thanks for the recommendation ๐

I am picky when it comes to self help books. They can be very repetitive.

I agree with you in so many reasons. I stopped reading self-books except for my favorite book called “The Untethered Soul” and switched to sci-fi, and novels. โค Much love to you.
